What is Click Bait??

 However, browsing the internet has become tedious in recent years.

You will be served with hundreds of ads from other websites and apps that do not interest you when you search for one website or app. If this happens mor frequently, you'll eventually start ignoring all the ads and scrolling past them without clicking on any of them. Anyhow, there is a way to get what you want out of the millions of websites that exist online: click bait!


Whats Click Bait?


Click bait is a type of Internet advertising personate articles meant to convince readers into clicking on a hyperlink which leads to another website or app. These links usually take readers to a site with exciting headlines and pictures meant to catch their interest and force them to click the link. In recent years, click bait ads have generated this type of sensation by promising "what happens next, is unbelievable!!" or "this cat will actually FLY!"

In simpe words, Click-bait is a type of spammy or misleading online advertising where web site publishers and bloggers use inflammatory headlines to entice readers to click on a link and visit their website. It is typically used with social media posts that direct users to the website's home page or another page that contains advertisements. 

For example

"The seemingly obvious appeal of a title such as "31 Insanely Weird College Courses You'll Probably Never Take" is that it makes you want to read more. After all, who can resist clicking on something titled thus? But the truth of the matter is that the article itself may be one sentence long and just list all 31 courses in an unordered list with no further commentary."

Click bait was born as early as 2005, with the creation of Upworthy.com. It gained such popularity that by 2013, it had amassed more than 100 million viewers. At first, content creators were annoyed by click bait because it was getting in between them and their audience, but they later realized how valuable these ads were: they could make content go viral overnight.

 It has existed for years on sites such as Answers.com, captioned images on Reddit, and even Your Daily Girl Tips since 2008. Everyone from Buzzfeed, to Huffington Post, to BuzzFeed, and many others use click bait titles for the purpose of generating views. However, using click-bait is a two-edged sword.


Advantages of click bait is getting more and more clicks to a particular website, video, images etc with the help of irrelevant and impossible titles used.


Clickbait is frowned upon for many reasons, and we'll be exploring those reasons below.



DISADAVNATGES


1. Click bait attracts wrong visitors 


When growing a brand, you would like brand loyalty. you would like people to seek out your site and genuinely enjoy it, respect it and are available back once they need your product again.


Clickbait, supported vague adjectives and overblown promises, doesn’t do any of that. Its viral potential attracts mostly first-time audiences. It is possible to attract all kinds of people in inbound marketing, but odds are the majority of those people will not be truly interested in your product or service—"they just want to understand what happened when Dad gave his daughter the frozen dessert"


Because clickbait turns reading into a psychological game, audiences are forced to guess, what the top results are and connecting them to reveal the right answer.. Upworthy has long been the winner of this game; they wont to be more aggressive with it, but even lately they tease out the story in headlines worded specifically to form you click:


2. Click bait will increase bounce rate


There’s a lot of debate about what proportion bounce rates really matter because they’re very easy to control , Google may evaluate a bounce rate far but many of us worry.

But it’s  not an honest look to possess thousands of individuals visiting your site for five seconds and leaving, unlikely to return again. In a post on clickbait in 2014, Facebook addressed this concern, stating that writers might be penalized for using click bait to get views or likes..


Clickbait  doesn’t denote  useful content,  visitors tend not to stay for too long. they could get a negative impression from your site, which does you more harm than good within the end of the day . That’s why Facebook began analyzing time spent on a page as a marker of quality—exactly why authoritative, long posts are termed best.


3. Disaapointment of audience with click bait


Rarely does clickbait ever live up to expectations. There are two reasons clickbait is a bad idea that are directly related to this: disappointment results in bounces, which cause poor engagement and loss of trust in your content.

4. Click bait will make your site data untidy and muddle it

5. Click bait its just too old now

Is this, 2011? users are now smarter than they were before, let alone a few years ago. After working for a while, but will not work for longer duration.

There's one more reason that you might be turned off from clickbait: it sounds old and lame.

Be original, creative, clear and useful. What happens next will shock you.
